MORE INFORMATION ON ERECTILE DYSFUNCTION

  • Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low energy acoustic wave pulsations that are directly applied to an injury through a person’s skin.  Shockwave therapy is used in the treatment of many musculoskeletal conditions, primarily those involving connective tissues such as ligaments and tendons, by triggering the body’s own natural healing response. Most patients begin to see results over the first course of treatment. A maintenance plan is important for maximum benefit.

Shockwave therapy works by providing the following:

    • Collagen formation to make newly formed tendon fibers firmer in structure

    • Decalcification of calcium buildup on tendons

    • Trigger point release, increasing blood supply to the injured area

    What should I expect?

After the treatment, you may experience temporary soreness, tenderness or swelling for a few days following the treatment, as the shockwaves stimulate an inflammatory response. However, this is the body healing itself naturally. So, it’s important not to take any anti-inflammatory medication after treatment, which may slow down the results.

  • There are a variety of factors that can lead to erectile dysfunction.  The root cause of ED originates from either physiological, lifestyle or psychological dysfunctions.

    Physiological factors:

    • High blood pressure

    • Type II diabetes

    • Heart Disease

    • Medications (i.e. antidepressants or blood pressure)

    • Multiple Sclerosis

    Psychological factors:

    • PTSD

    • Anxiety

    • Depression

    • Low self-esteem

    Lifestyle factors:

    • Obesity

    • Smoking

    • Lack of exercise

    • Alcohol

  • Although ED can be comprised of a cluster of different factors, a multi faceted treatment approach has been found to successfully treat ED.  Through a variety of physical/mental interventions, it is possible to recreate healthy sexual functionality without reliance on medication.
